Hello everyone! My name is Kyle Benner, and I’m a Commercial Art student and an Owens Outlook student newspaper staff member at Owens Community College in Toledo, OH.

I would first like to say thank you for reading this information about me.

Secondly, I’d like to apologize in advance if it’s not up to par with any you’ve read before, because I’m somewhat new to this.

Now that I got those points out of the way, I’ll talk a little more about myself. I’m currently enrolled in a Visual Storytelling class at Owens Community College which requires me to make a blog.

My reason to join this course was to broaden my storytelling skills, and to make my photos capable of telling their own story, because many times I find myself explaining my meaning or purpose behind my pieces. When I grasp the visual storytelling, I believe it will help me in the long run.

After learning that I would be getting a first-hand experience in journalism through Owens Outlook Newspaper, I got excited to be a part of the media that breaks stories and shapes what viewers and citizens hear. Since blogs are a very personal and communicative way to do this, I’m very excited to utilize this website for that reason.

Also, I’m excited to learn how to use social media like Twitter first when breaking a story, and how to shape my full story in a better way with that information.

I hope this gave you all an insight as to why I’m writing this blog, and I hope you’ll come back to read my next blog post(which should have content much more interesting than this). Thank you all!
